It is based on the physical and psychological needs of the human user (There you go! That’s the psychology part), enabling the user to function at the highest level possible. What is Human Centered Design? IDEO defines human centered design as a creative approach to problem-solving that starts with people and ends with innovative solutions that are tailor-made to suit their needs. In their Field Guide to Human Centered Design, they say, When you understand the people you’re trying to reach—and then design from their perspective—not only will you arrive at unexpected answers, but you’ll come up with ideas that they’ll embrace.

Human-centered design (HCD) is the process of re-imagining a product or service by bringing the needs of the people who use that product or service to the forefront. It is a design philosophy, whereby uncovering the user’s needs, behaviours, characteristics, pain points, and motivations through ethnographic research leads to the design of better user experiences. Human-centered design is an approach for developing interactive systems with the objective of making systems user-friendly and useful. To achieve its aim, it focuses on users, their needs and expectations, by considering the human factor, alongside knowledge and usability methods.
